In order to contact her late fiance's spirit, Burke uses the spiritual powers of Oscar, a stranger from India who has mysteriously arrived at her household. But she, too, is soon dead, so Oscar accuses Stuart of killing both Burke and the fiance. The angered Stuart pushes his accuser out of a window, killing him. From there the story takes an odd twist, showing the preceding events to be a dream. But word arrives at the household that Oscar, who was en route to his home from India, has passed away himself. Though this film was full of potential as a good creepy psychological drama, the story is given only a perfunctory treatment that ultimately results in nothing of great interest. Harvey acquits himself well in this film, made during the year he first achieved leading-man roles in feature films. He went on to greater things, including ROOM AT THE TOP (1958). leave a comment
