MAN OF THE WEST
starstarstarstarstar
This was the last western directed by Anthony Mann, and it's his most powerful and disturbing foray into the genre. Gary Cooper stars as a seemingly guileless Texas bumpkin who's among three passengers left stranded after their train is held up by the psychotic Tobin gang. Cooper knows of a nearby cabin, but once they arrive, his companions (Arthur O'Connell and Julie London) are horrified to find themselves trapped in the Tobins' lair.
