Calleia, the son of an Italian immigrant, makes good and gets a law degree. He soon finds, however, that he can't get anywhere in politics without the help of the crooked political organization. He goes along with what is expected in crooked politics, until he becomes district attorney. But when he tries to free himself of his ties to the crooks, he finds himself harassed and forced to run as an independent in order to straighten out his career. leave a comment
