Set against the backdrop of the Matterhorn (called the Citadel here), this exciting, beautifully photographed picture is the story of youth finding itself. MacArthur, a young boy whose father was killed while climbing the Citadel, is determined to complete the ascent himself. His youthful
exuberance leads to problems when he joins the climbing party led by Rennie, then MacArthur's mother and uncle forbid the boy to climb anymore. But with the help of Munro, Naismith, and Donald, MacArthur soon masters the art of climbing. Later, MacArthur even saves Rennie during an ascent up the
mountain.
