Oscar Wilde's fall from grace is given a fine depiction here with Finch starring as the ill-starred playwright. As the story begins, Wilde is engaged in a relationship with Lord Douglas (Fraser), son of the Marquis of Queensberry (Jeffries). When the Marquis accuses Wilde of sodomy, the playwright sues him for libel.
