Tabori is a highschool senior who fools around with the physical education teacher's wife, Mason, as well as classmate Miles, who thinks she's pregnant. His widowed mother, Van Patten, loses her boy friend in a car crash and later she discovers she is pregnant. When Tabori finds out that Miles isn't pregnant, he switches the abortion appointment for his mother. The doctor forces him to watch the operation in a very heavy-handed and melodramatic scene.
