Young soprano Breen goes to summer camp and is befriended by composer Rathbone, who is suffering from a creative block. He gets new inspiration from letters from Breen's mother, Claire, an opera singer hoping for a comeback. The smart boy gets them together, resulting in the opera being
finished, Mom becoming a star, and Breen getting a new father. The film's score earned an Academy Award nomination. Songs include: "Music in My Heart," "My Campfire Dreams," "Make a Wish," "Old Man Rip" (Oscar Straus, Louis Alter, Paul E. Webster).
