MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION

While not quite as heart-wrenching as the original 1935 version, Douglas Sirk's remake comes pretty close, and benefits tremendously from being filmed in deep, rich color. Jane Wyman is Helen Phillips, a blind woman, and Rock Hudson is Bob Merrick, the cad who is partially responsible for her husband's death, but who unexpectedly becomes her savior.
