Realizing that the mob has traced his whereabouts, disgraced goodfella Bill (Jim Belushi) sends his wife Debra (Vanessa Angel) to safety and prepares his getaway. Not only did Bill snitch on his superiors, he's ripped off $12,000,000 from them too, and now his witness protection cover is blown. When a gangland quartet headed by Bill's old buddy Felix (Carlton Wilborn) corners him, Bill agrees to fork over the hidden cash, but manages to cause a car crash en route to it. His escape is complicated by three factors: Felix's crew runs afoul of a methamphetamine bunch also pursuing Bill; Felix's excitable driver needlessly shoots a deputy; and the deputy's sheriff (Timothy Dalton) decides he wants a piece of the action. Meanwhile, Bill can't shake Felix's bodyguard Miles (Michael Beach), who claims to be an undercover federal agent. Brutality and stinging humor swarm like busy bees around this fast-paced caper film. Battery charged by stimulating direction, amusing insult humor, and expert second-unit work, this action vehicle careens down a 90's highway of neo-crime cliches, but if you still haven't had your fill of nasty behavior, you could do worse. In contemporary cinema, exposing one criminal's inhumanity to another crook is meant to comment on the human condition in general; hasn't anyone considered that the art of viciously outsmarting your opponents is a uniquely criminal activity? leave a comment --Robert Pardi
