Madame X

1937, Movie, NR, 75 mins

starstarstarstar
Fourth version of the oft-filmed French weeper (other versions dated 1915, 1920 and 1929), this time starring George as the diplomat's wife whose brief fling with a playboy begins her long descent into prostitution, blackmail, and murder. Wood's direction of this trite material is standard but lends some credibility to the fairly ludicrous happenings. leave a comment
