Merman repeats her successful Broadway performance in this pleasant musical. She's a Washington hostess who is named ambassador to the tiny European nation of Lichtenburg. She falls in love with foreign minister Sanders while Princess Vera-Ellen dances with and falls for press attache O'Connor. Merman utterly dominates the picture with her boisterous performance, loosely based on the life of former Ambassador to Luxembourg Perle Mesta.
