They don't come much weirder — or more entertaining. Combining Grand Guignol, surrealism and comedy to great effect, this 1935 creepy classic remains a chilling exercise in obsessive desire. Peter Lorre stars as a doctor with a serious crush on actress Francis Drake. When her pianist husband (Colin Clive) loses his hands in a railway accident, the love-crazed doctor gives him the hands of a recently executed knife-wielding murderer (Edward Brophy).
