Charming Durbin vehicle (her third starring role) which sees the young singer as the daughter of vain and aging Hollywood actress Patrick. Durbin is sent to a Swiss boarding school by her mother so that Mom's public won't realize how old she's getting. Left abroad with no family, Durbin creates a fantasy father who is a world traveler and adventurer. When her doubting friends pressure her to produce this father, Durbin flies into a panic until she meets up with kindly British composer Marshall, who consents to play the role of her father and bail out the overly imaginative girl. The film earned Academy Award nominations for Best Original Story, Best Cinematography, Best Interior Decoration, and Best Score. Songs include: "I Love To Whistle" (sung by Durbin), "Chapel Bells," "Serenade To The Stars," "There Isn't A Day Goes By" (Harold Adamson, Jimmy McHugh).
