An old Mexican peasant fable is brought to the screen with slick professionalism and adherence to the period the fable depicts. Tired of his extreme poverty, Torres goes on a hunger strike until the day when he can have an entire turkey to himself. To appease her husband, Pellicer steals a turkey and gives it to her husband even though her children went to bed hungry.
