Rogers came out of nearly 25 years of retirement--his last real role was in SON OF PALEFACE (1952), but he also had a brief bit in ALIAS JESSE JAMES (1959)--to star in this quiet, understated, but somewhat maudlin western about a hard-working, religious cowboy and his rebellious teenage son
O'Brien. In some of the movie's more interesting moments O'Brien deals with a homosexual who makes a pass at him, and Robinson, who's a Peeping Tom sex maniac, and his redneck buddies Hampton and Fimple try to pin a murder rap on Rogers. Nothing special.
