The last "Ma and Pa Kettle" film for Kilbride, who retired upon its release, features Ma and Pa answering a cry for help from their cousin in Hawaii, Smith, who has been hit with health and finance problems. Kilbride, Main, and oldest daughter Nelson venture to the islands to run Smith's
pineapple farm while he recovers from his illness. In a matter of moments, Kilbride manages to cause a massive explosion in the pineapple factory and to get himself kidnaped. Yet all works out for the best by the fadeout. MA AND PA KETTLE AT WAIKIKI actually was filmed a few years before its
release, but left undistributed until 1955. This was also the last "Ma and Pa Kettle" film ...
