After learning he has a mysterious terminal illness, Pinsent goes off to the Greek Isles to think things through. At first, he is put off by the local myths and legends, but he soon comes to an understanding of the value that the population puts on these stories. Through Costa, a youngster
well-versed in local mythology, he meets another American, Hagen, and the two fall in love. He knows that death is imminent, however, so he leaves the island. Though at times simplistic and overly sentimental, the film has a pleasing naivete to it. The camera gives the scenery an almost ethereal
look, but the direction is too slow, and the film is in need of tighter editing.
