Moreau's first self-directed effort tells the story of a group of actresses and the special friendship they share. The film opens at a gathering of the group at the estate of the eldest and most successful, Moreau. Each woman is beset by romantic and career troubles: Bose gave up acting to become a wife and mother; Cartier is just beginning her career while attempting to work through problems with her lover Arestrup; and Racette, who is trying to choose between family and theatrical success, ends up in a one-night stand with American rocker Carradine.
