Lucky Night

This insipid attempt at yet another IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT-style comedy falls like a bad souffle. Long passages of dialog in which nothing witty is said, half-hearted direction, and strained attempts at slapstick make this perhaps the dullest film either Loy or Taylor ever made. Loy is the madcap heiress (aren't they always?) to O'Neill's steel fortune. O'Neill wants her to marry a hand-picked twerp but she rebels and walks out into the world without a penny. On a park bench, she meets Taylor, who is unemployed. Sparks fly. They borrow 50 cents to eat with from a cop, risk it on a gambling venture, win a lot of money, then lose it all.
