A well-intentioned, noncommercial Canadian-based film starring real-life husband and wife Shaw and Ure as a husband and wife. Shaw is pushing forty and can't hold a job in Dublin, so he and his family emigrate to Montreal in the hope of a new life. His teenage daughter, McClintock, doesn't
like the move, but Shaw and Ure hope she'll adjust. Shaw has little success in Canada, and his family asks to return to Ireland. They've had a nest egg for the trip home, but Shaw has spent it, and now they must stay. Ure leaves him, taking McClintock, but soon the girl returns to live with her
father. Shaw has apparently settled down and is working as a proofreader at a newspape...
