Loving Couples

This early film in the directorial career of Scandinavian actress and feminist filmmaker Zetterling traces the lives of three women about to give birth in a hospital. The film, set in 1915, examines why they became pregnant and their attitudes about their condition. Lindblom bitterly resents the middle class and has married a servant of a wealthy family. Though she doesn't love her husband, she conceives a child out of spite and receives the news coldly that the baby is stillborn.
