A forty-year

propelled to 1945: Danner has married Fowkes, but he soon leaves her a widow; Perkins has married and fathered two kids; Bridges remains single. Danner still holds the two men at bay, as the affairs continue. The film's high point occurs in 1964, with Perkins finally succumbing to a heart attack,
