If you're looking for clearly defined motives or even a modicum of plausibility, this contemporary farce isn't the film for you. Randy Bodek (Patrick Dempsey) is a stylishly "punked out" college sophomore. As the film opens, Randy manages to alienate both his girl friend Jenny (Nancy Valen), who breaks off their relationship, and his father (Robert Ginty), who, enraged by his son's poor grades, cuts off his tuition. Left to fend for himself in the "real world," Randy takes a delivery job with a fast food restaurant, hoping to collect enough tips to get back into school and reunite with Jenny.
