Robinson, the owner of a Chicago meat packing company, is married to self-centered social climber Tobin. Robinson meets and falls in love with Francis, but his wife won't give him a divorce. He continues his affair with Francis secretly, and she begins to make big steps in her singing career. Robinson becomes the head of a meat packing trust that sends preserved beef to American troops fighting in Cuba.
