On her way to New York to meet her symphony-conductor fiance, Jimmy Hale (Dick Haymes), music-school dean Katherine Hilliard (Maureen O'Hara) meets boppin' big band leader Barry Clayton (real-life big-band leader Harry James) aboard the train. She's awestruck by the brand new beat that grips her from her head to her feet. Her newfound passiondoesn't go over well at the conservatory and she promptly gets canned, and simultaneously finds herself torn between the two men. In an attempt to prove swing's worth, Hilliard and Clayton perform their tunes for the college to hear. Songs: "As If I Didn't Have Enough on My Mind" (Charles Henderson, Lionel Newman, Harry James), "I Didn't Mean a Word I Said" (Harold Adamson, Jimmy McHugh), "Moonlight Propaganda" (Herb Magidson, Matt Malneck), and "Do You Love Me?" (Harry Ruby). leave a comment
