Romanticized version of the love life of composer Franz Schubert. Paterson plays the daughter of a duke exiled by the Emperor because of her mother's marriage. She plans to elope with the composer (Asther) but he flees because he does not want to ruin Paterson's life. But the girl never
gives up in her pursuit of Asther. The story is thin, with an attempt to pad it with unneeded dramatics and misplaced comic relief. The direction is uneven, with Paterson poorly cast. The rest of the performances are good, but wasted.
