Four prostitutes (Signoret, Rovere, Milo, Riva) are forced to go into the restaurant business when the brothels of Rome are closed down by official order. The women strike a deal with landlord Gora to buy a run-down restaurant with their savings. He agrees to use his name to buy their food license on the condition that they also run a small brothel upstairs. The restaurant is a success due to the best efforts of the ladies, but soon trouble develops in their personal lives that threatens the business.
