Fairly boring adaptation of Balzac's play about a Parisian flim-flam man who coerces money from his friends while trying to arrange a suitable marriage for his daughter. The story suffers from an overabundance of talk without supporting action. The costuming is an asset, with the performers
fitting their roles well.
