Yes, it's a bit of a puff piece, but Lou Reed -- who gave his blessing and full cooperation to this stylish and informative overview of his career -- probably wouldn't have it any other way. Originally produced for the PBS series American Masters and directed by friend, photographer and first-time filmmaker Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, the film makes a case for Reed as an important musician and urban folk-poet whose talent transcends the strictures of rock 'n' roll.
