Lost In Translation

Plenty of praise has already been heaped on this off-beat 2003 romance about two superficially mismatched Americans stuck in the same swank Tokyo hotel. Director Sofia Coppola nabbed an Academy Award for her sweet and subtle screenplay; Bill Murray earned a Best Actor nomination for the performance of his career; and while Scarlett Johansson was an Oscar shutout, the film turned her into a bona fide movie star. They're all nearly eclipsed, however, by Tokyo itself, captured in all its crazy, glittering glory by ace cinematographer Lance Acord. It's the perfect backdrop for a brief encounter that's as much about alienation as it is about love. Read the complete review for Lost In Translation

Question: You know you want to tell us who dies on Lost! Please don't let it be Kate!

Answer: Now you tell me you don't want it to be Kate? Where were you when I was breaking story with Damon Lindelof back in June? Huh? Let me make some phone calls and see if I can get him to whack someone else.
