York plays a British 16-year-old left stranded at a French hotel during her vacation with her three younger siblings when their mother becomes ill and is hospitalized. The proprietor, Darrieux, reluctantly takes the children in, and her handsome lover More volunteers to entertain them. More takes the children on a tour of the countryside, and during the excursion York finds herself increasingly attracted to their guide (much to the dismay of Darrieux, who begins to distrust the teenager). One evening York goes into a jealous rage when she sees More and Darrieux heading for bed, and she gets drunk with scullery boy Saire. The next day, York decides to get revenge on More by sending his picture to the police, having recognized him as a wanted jewel thief. That evening, Saire enters the girl's room and tries to rape her. Alerted by her screams, More rushes into the room and accidentally pushes Saire out the window to his death. York confesses her betrayal to More, and he makes his escape. Still concerned about the children, More wires their uncle asking him to come to the hotel and retrieve the youngsters. The wire tips the police to More's whereabouts, and More is captured. leave a comment
