Powerful, gritty drama shot in a documentary style about two high school dropouts who are faced with the choice of going into the military or going on public aid. One of the boys enlists and finds himself in Belfast, where he begins terrorizing Catholics; the other stays home and becomes increasingly destitute as he tries to find work. The cast members are all amateurs, and the visual style is stunningly realistic.
