Francis is a switchboard operator with an eye to becoming a movie star and catching Hutton in this teen-romance film. Once the singing star has Hutton, though, she realizes he's not for her, but grocery assistant Baker is. Hutton isn't left in the cold, because he pairs up with Francis' roommate, Oliver. TV host Carson and actors Hamilton, Mimieux, Prentiss, and Thomas make cameo appearances.
