This confusing, silly story from writer-director Michael Crichton concerns hypnotic TV commercials, models, and stun guns. Plastic surgeon Larry Roberts (Albert Finney) becomes a murder suspect after two models on whom he operated are killed. Bucking the police to investigate the case himself with model Cindy (Susan Dey), Larry discovers that a corporation headed by John Reston (James Coburn) is making three-dimensional images of the models (played by former Playboy centerfolds) for subliminal advertisement purposes.
