Lockwood works in the British Embassy in Rio and marries Jones, a man with a dubious past. After their wedding she discovers he is wanted for fraud and other crimes, but he promises that he will mend his wicked ways. They return to England by ship and meet millionaire Wooland, who pays the unscrupulous Jones $40,000 to disappear so he can marry Lockwood.
