No Longer Alone

Carroll plays the noted British actress Joan Winmill, who suffered from suicidal tendencies until she finally had a religious conversion. The story is told mainly in flashback. We see the actress' unhappy childhood and the death of her mother and a cousin. Her grandmother also suffers from similar psychological troubles and falls victim to a nervous breakdown. Winmill's affair with Robert Kennedy (played by Devol) is unfortunately overplayed. The scenes don't work, as Kennedy was too recent of a historical figure to be successfully interpreted by an actor.
