Marlowe is a federal judge who comes to the town of Tularosa to try Alonzo for the murder of Wilke's brother. Wilke, the local cattle baron, has very tight control over the town. Marlowe discovers that Alonzo's mother-in-law, Holmes, is the guilty party. She wanted Alonzo out of the way so
that her daughter, Montell, could marry Wilke and get back the land the cattle baron had taken from her family. After the trial, Wilke challenges the judge to a gun battle, during which the sheriff intervenes and is killed by Wilke. Marlowe, with Robinson's help, arrests the cattle baron. This
western was shot in a one-week period.
