One of Warhol's "factory" films of the 1960s, with lots of sex and perverse humor. The slim storyline has a gang of gay cowboys riding into a desert town, where a frustrated Viva and Mead welcome them with open arms. Francine is the transvestite sheriff, and Hompertz is the boy everyone
wants to bed down. There's sex with horses, gay and straight sex, and a Viva strip show, too. Morrisey is the uncredited director behind Warhol. Today the film seems so out of date that it's funnier than ever intended and shows that Warhol and his bunch were just looking to shock, not break
ground. By today's standards, though, LONESOME COWBOYS seems pretty tame.
