Kyoko (Minako Ohashi), a 19-year-old girl from Tokyo whose whole life has been arranged by her parents, leaves her homeland to come to America upon discovering that her fiance has been having an affair. Although she speaks little English, and her family is against the move, Kyoko is
determined to make it on her own. A low-budget independent film produced with assistance from the American Film Institute, LIVING ON TOKYO TIME is an interesting, well-intentioned film that suffers from some haphazard scripting and amateur acting.
