LIVE WIRES was the first in the series of "Bowery Boys" films that continued until 1957. It's practically Leo Gorcey's film, however, with the rest of the gang in subordinate roles. Terrence "Slip" Mahoney (Gorcey), a tough guy who still answers to his even tougher sister, Mary (Pamela Blake), loses his job at a construction firm when he punches out the foreman. Slip soon finds himself working with Sach (Huntz Hall) at the district attorney's office. The two get themselves into hot water when they try to bring in a gangster (Mike Mazurki) on their own.
