Ferris (Tatum O'Neal) is a lonely rich girl. Angel (Kristy McNichol) is a kid from the wrong side of the tracks. They meet at summer camp, take an instant dislike to each other, and end up betting on which one of them will lose her virginity first. The two leads are honestly played, and
there is a nice feel for the scariness that sex has for adolescents, but the screenplay gets bogged down in silly subplots and stereotypes. Armand Assante, a better actor than this film deserves, gives a nice performance and has a good chemistry with O'Neal. For the brief moments when it's good,
the film is really quite tender.
