The Little Ballerina

1947, Movie, NR, 61 mins

The perfect film for young ballet aspirants. Marsh is a schoolgirl trying to get into the famed Sadlers' Wells Ballet Company. Coming from a modest background, she is in need of a scholarship and tries to win the attention of Fonteyn, who plays herself. There are some nice sequences of the girls going through their steps, and a chance to see Fonteyn perform a number from "Les Sylphides." It's nicely directed and acted, and though it's no RED SHOES, children undoubtedly will adore it. leave a comment
