Lion Of St. Mark

This Italian swashbuckler stars Scott as the son of the Doge of Venice, whose rule is threatened by plundering pirates. Scott mobilizes a mercenary force to combat the invaders and dons a mask, calling himself "The Lion of St. Mark" to protect his identity. After a few run-ins with the pirates, Scott falls in love with female pirate Canale, and he frees her when she is captured by the mercenaries. Canale is grateful, but she refuses to renounce the pirates until she learns that the Lion is actually Scott. The pirates are defeated, Scott's uncle adopts Canale (so that she may achieve the social standing necessary to associate with Scott), and the couple are wed.
