Between The Lines: Review

A tight little sleeper from Joan Micklin Silver, one of the few women who managed to direct her own films in the male-dominated world of 1970s Hollywood. Set in and around the offices of an alternative newspaper — think The Village Voice or the L.A. Weekly — it's basically the story of an affair between investigative reporter John Heard and Lindsay Crouse, but the heart of the movie is in the oddball details and bit parts, all of which are good.
