A better version of the 1930 film by the fine producer-director team of Pommer and Lang. Boyer is a man taken to heaven by a pair of angels. He is tried by a judge and confronted by various characters from his past to see if he is deserving of his wings. Fantastic elements are well-handled by the normally ice-cold realist Lang.
