Seems Like Old Times

1980, Movie, PG, 102 mins

A thin plot heavily laden with many of Neil Simon's best one-liners makes this a pleasant way to spend 102 minutes. Chevy Chase is forced to abet some bank robbers, and soon the cops are after him. His ex-wife, Goldie Hawn, is a liberal lawyer married to the local district attorney, Charles Grodin. When Chase arrives at their home seeking shelter, she takes him in. The expected happens when Chase and Hawn rekindle their old passion. It was only natural to reteam Chase and Hawn after their success in FOUL PLAY, and this picture appears to have been written and shot with that alone in mind. TV director Jay Sandrich, making his feature debut here, kept the pace moving swiftly. Chase contributes a somewhat frantic turn, and Hawn does her cute thing. Some nice work from the secondary players--including Harold Gould, Robert Guillaume, and Yvonne Wilder--adds to the fun. leave a comment
