In 1865, Argentina sets up a lighthouse staffed by Rey, Ranieri and Douglas, an American drifter. When an unusual schooner comes near the lighthouse, Rey and Ranieri go out to investigate. They are brutally murdered by the ship's crew, a band of pirates led by Brynner, out to take over the lighthouse to attract ships for their wicked purposes. Douglas is captured but escapes.
