Set in 1920s Montreal, this nostalgic tale centers on the binding relationship between a wide-eyed seven-year-old boy and his Orthodox Jewish grandfather. The latter, played by Israeli actor Yadin, has a broken-down wagon (drawn by an equally ailing horse) that the man rides about the
town in. The boy accompanies him on these trips, finding in the old man an adult with whom he can relate. His parents are too selfish to give their son the needed attention, and the other residents of the area are equally self-absorbed, unwilling, or unable to give the boy any form of human
