Ironworker McLaglen, who only smokes when he has a red-hot rivet with which to light his cigarette, leaves New Orleans with fellow he-man Harrigan to pursue a beam-walking job on a New York City skyscraper. Cajun queen D'Orsay, resentful at his departure, expresses her ire with a pistol,
placing some bullets in the vicinity of his retreating figure. She then trails after him to the big city where she finds work as an entertainer in a nightclub. Her missing macho man becomes the head of the ironworker's union and the target of some slick crooks who want to divert the union's
