It opens with a bang, and never lets up for a moment. It's a hot night on the old Malayan rubber plantation when Bette Davis coldly empties her gun into the body of an old family friend (David Newell). Davis claims it was all in self-defense, and her ever-faithful lawyer friend Herbert Marshall believes her. The victim's wife (Gale Sondergaard), however, has a letter she says proves otherwise.
